Help Shape the Future of Dog Grooming: Take Part in the BIGA Groomers Census 2025

At BIGA, we believe that every groomer’s voice matters—and now we’re putting that belief into action.

We’re proud to launch the first-ever BIGA Groomers Census 2025—a nationwide survey designed to capture real-time insights from professional dog groomers across the UK and Northern Ireland.

Whether you run a busy high-street salon, groom from a van, work from home, or are just starting your training, this census is for you.

Help us map the future of dog grooming. Every pin on the map brings groomers closer to recognition.

Why Now?

Despite being a thriving and vital part of the pet care industry, dog grooming still lacks official recognition, regulation, or even a centralised register. That means we don’t truly know how many groomers are working across the British Isles, where they’re based, how they operate, or what support they need.

The BIGA Groomers Census is our first step in closing that gap—with your help.

Let’s Set the Record Straight

We’ve seen some concerns raised—and we want to be completely transparent.

BIGA is a recognised member of the Canine and Feline Sector Group (CFSG), which works closely with Defra and government bodies to help shape animal welfare policy and represent the grooming sector.

The Groomers Census is not about collecting personal data, nor is it linked to any government-run programme. Your responses are confidential, anonymous, and used solely to benefit the grooming community.

We’re building the first-ever snapshot of our industry.

We’re not here to gain—we’re here to understand, so we can improve the future of grooming with groomers at the heart of the conversation.

What the Census Will Tell Us:

By taking just 3–5 minutes to complete the survey, you’ll help BIGA:

📍 Estimate how many groomers are actively working in the UK and Northern Ireland

🏠 Identify business types (salon-based, mobile, home-based, employed)

🎓 Highlight training levels and qualifications across the industry

📊 Reveal the key challenges groomers face, from burnout to pricing pressures

This data will help shape support, advocacy, and professional development across the grooming community—ensuring we are recognised as the skilled professionals we are.

Who Can Take Part?

This is open to everyone working in dog grooming, including:

  • Mobile groomers

  • Salon owners and staff

  • Home-based groomers

  • Students and trainees

  • Part-time and full-time professionals

Be part of the movement that’s shaping the future of our industry.
