We are the current volunteer directors & committees

BIGA is proud to celebrate its heritage while looking firmly to the future.

We will never forget our roots—BIGA was founded to support groomers, create a sense of community, and champion the profession at a time when recognition was limited. That mission remains at the heart of everything we do.

Now, a new team of passionate committee members, including Catherine Clarke - City and Guilds EQA, has come together with a clear purpose: to raise the standards of the British dog grooming industry.

From promoting professional qualifications and best practice in salons, to supporting education, events, and advocacy, BIGA is entering an exciting new era.

With this revitalised team, we are committed to:

  • Championing qualified, ethical grooming across the UK.

  • Providing tools, resources, and guidance to support groomers at every stage of their journey.

  • Working towards higher industry standards, helping pet owners identify professional, responsible grooming services.

Together, we are building on our history to secure a brighter, more professional future for the dog grooming industry in the UK.

If you would like to be considered for an active role within BIGA, then please send an email to admin@mybiga.org

Catherine Clark - BIGA Educational Advisor

Catherine Clark - BIGA Educational Advisor

Catherine Clark- My main role is as an External Quality Assurer (EQA), where I work closely with colleges and training centres (mainly with City & Guilds) to make sure students are getting high-quality, recognised qualifications. I’ve been doing this for 18 years, and I still find it incredibly rewarding.
I’m also involved in writing and marking the Level 3 written exam for City & Guilds, and over the years, I’ve helped develop several qualifications in dog grooming and animal care for different awarding bodies. Supporting other professionals is something I really value, which is why I also work as a lead moderator for Level 2 and Level 3 Animal Management, guiding other moderators through the process.
