Welcome Catherine Clark: Raising the Standard for Grooming Education at BIGA

At the British Isles Grooming Association (BIGA), our mission is clear: to elevate the dog grooming industry through education, accreditation, and professional recognition. To do that, we know it’s essential to have the right people on board — individuals who not only understand the industry but are actively shaping its future.

That’s why we’re proud to welcome Catherine Clark to the BIGA Educational Committee.

A Leader in Grooming Education

Catherine is no stranger to the world of dog grooming. With over 20 years of hands-on experience in the industry and 18 years as an External Quality Assurer (EQA) for City & Guilds, her contributions have already made a lasting impact across the UK.

As an EQA, Catherine works closely with grooming colleges and training centres to ensure students receive high-quality, recognised qualifications. Her dedication to maintaining educational standards has helped countless learners thrive and achieve their professional goals.

But Catherine’s influence doesn’t stop there.

Shaping the Future of Qualifications

She has played a vital role in developing dog grooming and animal care qualifications across various awarding bodies. From writing and marking the Level 3 written exams for City & Guilds to supporting fellow moderators in Animal Management education, Catherine is deeply involved in the structure and delivery of our industry’s most important credentials.

Her work ensures that dog groomers in training aren’t just learning how to clip and trim — they’re gaining the knowledge, confidence, and professionalism required to care for animals with compassion and expertise.

Why Catherine Joins BIGA

Catherine’s decision to join BIGA is a natural extension of her values. She believes in supporting professionals, raising educational standards, and ensuring the next generation of groomers are well-equipped for the challenges — and joys — of this rewarding career.

As part of the BIGA Educational Committee, she will be a key voice in:

  • Supporting accreditation frameworks

  • Advising on curriculum development

  • Guiding best practice in dog grooming education

  • Advocating for meaningful, industry-led change

A Bright Future for Grooming

We are thrilled to welcome Catherine to the BIGA team. Her wealth of experience, coupled with her unwavering commitment to quality education, makes her an incredible asset to our community.

Together, we’re building a stronger future for grooming — one where every professional is qualified, respected, and empowered to deliver the very best care to the animals we love.

Welcome to BIGA, Catherine. We’re honoured to have you with us.
