Curriculum includes both practical and theoretical training:

• Breed-specific grooming techniques

• Canine anatomy & behaviour

• Health & safety in the salon

• Equipment handling & maintenance

• First aid for dogs

• Minimum Level 3 Diploma or equivalent in dog grooming

• At least 3 years professional grooming experience

• Annual CPD (Continued Professional Development) is required

• Clean, safe, and well-maintained environment

• Adequate grooming stations, bathing, and drying areas

• Regularly serviced, up-to-date grooming equipment

• Animal welfare is top priority

• Positive handling only – no force or fear-based techniques

• Refusal of grooming for dogs unfit due to illness, injury, or stress

• Clear learning objectives and progress tracking

• Regular feedback and support for all learners

• Awarding body certificates issued upon completion

• No history of malpractice or serious complaints

• Agreement to BIGA Mission and Core Values

• Open to auditing or inspection by BIGA

• Active engagement with BIGA events, workshops, and CPD

• Commitment to continuous improvement in education and welfare
